Birthdays and Holidays- Gluten Free!

Hey Friends!

We have been incredibly busy with birthdays for the kids, snow days and illustrations for the book! Yay for being busy!

Birthdays are a new struggle for us, we are a newly gluten free family (just me mainly but the kids are playing along a lot), and cakes and goodies are a fun new way to try recipes without wheat and gluten products! Some brands (Gluten free pantry(TM)  and Betty Crocker(TM)) have delicious cakes or brownie, even pie crust mixes that are gluten free. We didn't like the vanilla cake from GFP but since today is my son's second birthday we will be trying the Betty crocker devils food cake mix. Most frosting that we regularly buy is GF but as usual, check the label!

We are a family of Irish heritage (Aren't we all on St Patty's day), and I personally LOVE St Patty's day food!!! Mmmmm, nothing beats and good Corned beef with cabbage, carrots, onions and potatoes, washed down by a delicious beer!!! Well, unless you cant find a GF beer! Trader Joe's, Whole foods and The Fresh Market have a selection to chose from. I have done some research and rather then waisting the gas I suggest calling your local retailer and making sure they have the GF beer you are looking for.  I have included some links to some information about GF beer for the Irish in us!

Remember to always check seasoning packets for common ingredients like maltodextrin and dextrose as they come from corn or wheat but most commonly from wheat.

Check out Celiac.com for tons of valuable info about GF.

As Always Thanks for Reading!

Happy Health,
